Rail staff call off strike action
Strike action by rail workers from Midland Mainline, set to take place on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, has been called off.

The RMT (Rail, Maritime and Transport) union accepted the firm's original offer and stopped the planned walk-out. Midland Mainline said it would be running its full advertised service on the days as planned.

However, senior conductors working for Central Trains are still going ahead with strike action on the same days.

The operator's senior conductors, also RMT members, have refused to accept a pay deal offered by Central Trains and strikes will go ahead on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
