Campaign targets binge drinkers
Nightsafe launch in Easter
The campaign urges drinkers to know their limits
Binge drinkers in Derbyshire are being targeted in an awareness campaign.

The Erewash Community Safety Partnership is relaunching the Nightsafe scheme aimed at young male drinkers in Ilkeston and Long Eaton.

A 'lads mag'-style poster campaign will feature women and messages that they do not find drunk men attractive.

The police's custody suite in Long Eaton will also run a 'last drink survey' to establish where those arrested had their last drink.

Reduce crime

Derbyshire Police will run a proof of age wristband, where anyone who appears to be under the age of 21 will be asked for identification.

Those who can prove they are old enough will be given a wristband which stops them being challenged in other pubs or clubs.

Councillor Carol Hart, of Erewash Borough Council, said: "Alcohol is a principal factor in certain types of crime being committed.

"The Nightsafe initiative aims to encourage people to know their limits and behave responsibly, which in turn will reduce crime levels and make our town centres even safer places to live and socialise.

"I'm confident this scheme will continue to have a major impact on reducing alcohol-related incidents in Erewash."
