Drinkers told 'know your limit'
A campaign to curb under-age and binge drinking and associated trouble is planned in two areas of Derbyshire.

The project has been called Nightsafe and aims to highlight the problems of alcohol-related violence in Long Eaton and Ilkeston.

Organisers say a variety of methods will be used to get the message across, and are confident of success.

Posters, T-shirts and information cards will be combined with a proof-of-age scheme to promote sensible drinking.

Drinking survey

Rachel Stone, the Erewash Community Safety Officer, said: "We are promoting the key message of 'drink in moderation' and 'know your limits'.

"This is done through T-shirts which will be worn by bar staff in Ilkeston and Long Eaton town centres and posters in pubs and clubs."

Police will also be conducting a survey, identifying where those arrested most recently bought alcohol.

The scheme will be fully in place in time for the Easter weekend.
