Saucy posters aimed at drinkers

Young men are being urged not to binge drink to try to boost their "pulling power" in a new campaign.

Lincolnshire Police is launching the Nightsafe initiative, which has already been used by other forces, in an effort to reduce alcohol-related violence.

The "lads mag" poster-style campaign features women and messages that they do not find drunk men attractive.

Home Office research shows many young men admit excessive drinking to boost their confidence to chat to women.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "There is link between violent crime and alcohol, and in Lincoln city centre these crimes usually happen on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night around Silver Street, High Street and the Brayford Pool, or within the home between people who know each other.

"There are very few incidents of violent crime in the city centre - just five each day on average - and the Lincoln Crime Reduction Executive want to reduce these levels further with Nightsafe.

"The Nightsafe campaign has been used successfully elsewhere, including Blackpool and Gloucester, to reduce violent crime by changing people's behaviour."
