Three museums in Derby have each received a national tourism award. They have been rewarded by the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service of the tourism organisation VisitBritain.
The museums were assessed on their presentation, visitor information, employee knowledge and efficiency, website, enquiry handling and leaflets.
Derby Museum and Art Gallery, The Silk Mill and Pickford's House Museum can display the Quality Assured Visitor Attraction rosette.
The Silk Mill is also known as Derby's Museum of Industry. All three have free admission.
Hardyal Dhindsa, Derby council's cabinet member for leisure and cultural Services, said: "This is great news on top of the 38% increase in visitor numbers that we have experienced over the last year.
"We attribute both the increased number of visitors and this accreditation to the imaginative and lively programmes of events, talks and activities at all three museums and to the exciting schools programme that is becoming more popular."
