Two museums to close for repairs
Derby's Museum of Industry and History, also known as the Silk Mill
The Silk Mill will be closed during work on its entrance area
Two of Derby's museums will be closed for part of the week for essential repairs to entrance and shop areas.

The repairs are part of a scheme to make the buildings more accessible to disabled people.

Derby Museum and Art Gallery will be closed on 9 May for works to both the front entrance and shop.

The Silk Mill, also known as Derby's Museum of Industry and History, will be closed from 10 to 12 May. Entrance to all Derby's museums is free.

Museums across the East Midlands were recently given 5.3m as part of a national funding scheme to improve collections.

The government initiative is meant to help museums provide better services to schools and attract new audiences.
