Mobile skate park for youngsters
Young people in south Derbyshire are getting a new mobile skate park in an attempt to keep them off the streets.

The County Council and Sport England are funding the project, which is expected to cost around 50,000.

The park will consist of a mini-street course for BMX's and skateboarders and will be transported around different locations on the back of a lorry.

The facility, aimed at 13 to 19 year olds is due to take to the county's roads in April.

Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for public protection and transport Walter Burrows said: "Young people need something to spend their time better than just walking around the streets.

"The fact is we've asked them what they wanted and they've come up with this - we think that's a better response than just telling them what we think they want."
