Company appeals over quarry plans
Protest camp
Campaigners camped out at Stanton Moor to oppose the plans
A Derbyshire company is appealing against a High Court decision not to intervene in a long-running battle over two disused quarries.

Stancliffe Stone wants to reactivate Endcliffe and Lees Cross quarries at Stanton Moor.

The quarries are currently classified as dormant, which means stone can no longer be excavated from them.

Last month a judge ruled that it is up to the local authority to determine the status of the quarries.

Plans to reopen the quarries have been fiercely opposed by environmentalists.

Members of the Nine Ladies Anti-Quarry Campaign camped out on Stanton Moor for four years.
