Quarry protestors warned
The quarry company planning to evict protestors from a site in Derbyshire says it will bring the matter to a swift conclusion.

Members of the Nine Ladies Anti Quarry Campaign have been camped on Stanton Moor since 1999.

In January they were ordered to leave the site by the High Court.

Managing Director of Stancliffe Stone, Brian Wallace, said it is taking the appropriate legal action to make them move off the site.

Legal process

Protestors claim it could cost up to 20m to forcibly evict them.

But Stancliffe Stone who have permission to excavate from the nearby Endcliffe and Lees Cross Quarry, said the figure is pure conjecture.

Mr Wallace said: "I would hope as law abiding citizens that they would listen to the High Court and follow their recommendations to leave the site.

"However should they wish to continue their protest we are in consultation with the sheriff and looking at the correct legal process to bring this to an end as quickly as possible."
