Helvellyn
The walker fell from Striding Edge on Helvellyn
A walker is recovering in hospital after falling 200ft (61m) in the snow from a ridge in the Lake District.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian, a student at Lancaster University, slipped from the notorious Striding Edge on Helvellyn on Sunday afternoon.

He was examined by a doctor from the Patterdale Mountain Rescue team and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with a head injury.

Striding Edge is regarded as one of the Lake District's most hazardous ridges.
