People living in an area of Cumbria are being invited to comment on the quality of local services and council policy. Eden District Council's Scrutiny Committee reviews council decisions and policies and the delivery of services.
The aim is to encourage openness and accountability, and ensure services operate in a co-ordinated way.
The committee is developing its 2005 work plan and the public has until 30 April to submit any comments on issues affecting life in Eden.
'Quality of life'
Councillor Gordon Savage, chairman of the Scrutiny Committee, said: "The scrutiny role is a relatively new one.
"For it to be successful the views of people from both within and outside the council are needed.
"We will consult with independent experts, local people, businesses, town and parish councils, community and voluntary groups.
"Together we can improve council policies and services and influence those of other organisations that affect the quality of life locally."
