About 1,000 people will be involved in the survey
A 1,000-strong citizen's panel is being set up in Lincoln to help advise the city council.

Civic leaders are looking for residents of all ages and background to join the new initiative.

The 20,000 project will see people receive up to four surveys a year so the council can gain their views on a variety of issues.

Letters and questionnaires will be sent to 10,000 households in the city inviting people to apply.

Local opinions

Julie Bowler, corporate policy officer at the council, said: "We want to improve the services and the quality of life for people in the city.

"We can only do that if we have up-to-date information about the views and opinions of local people.

"We will be asking general questions about age, marital status, employment situation and ethnic background to help ensure we select a representative cross section of people."

Council leader councillor Ric Metcalfe said: "The citizen's panel offers a very good opportunity for people to help us shape the future of the city and keep in close touch with the views of the public we are here to represent."
