Group to probe streetlight budget
A special scrutiny group is to investigate a shortfall in streetlight budgets in Cumbria after complaints over maintenance costs.

Allerdale councillors are concerned that an overspend on the maintenance budget could reach 150,000 by the end of the financial year.

Serious repair work in Allerdale is on hold until the problem is resolved.

The working group will report to Cumbria County Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

However, light bulbs will continue to be replaced and health and safety issues will still be addressed, according to Allendale's local committee.
