A biscuit maker, whose factory was badly damaged in the January floods in Carlisle, will receive �1.25m to secure its long-term future in the city. There had originally been doubts about the future of the McVitie's site.
In August, it announced up to 33 jobs could go because some lines could not be repaired, but earlier this week said the final figure would be 19.
The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) is awarding the grant to parent company United Biscuits.
NWDA chief executive Steven Broomhead said: "The agency has been working hard with our partners in Cumbria to ensure that Carlisle and the surrounding areas affected by the floods earlier this year are able to make a full recovery.
Long future
"We have put in place a number of measures to address the long-term economic implications and I am extremely pleased to award this grant to United Biscuits as part of our ongoing support.
"We will continue to work closely with United Biscuits to ensure that the McVitie's factory has a long and sustainable future in Carlisle."
McVitie's Carlisle general manager Andrew Hawley said the company was grateful for the support and it was committed to production in Carlisle.
He said: "United Biscuits is delighted to have re-opened the factory and resumed production following the flood in January."
