Police in Cumbria are starting a crackdown on crime in the run-up to the Christmas holidays. Operation Helm Wind will concentrate on alcohol related violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour, particularly in licensed premises and public places.
Domestic violence will also be tackled, with the police arresting offenders and pursuing prosecutions.
Police will also be on the look out for criminals who travel to Cumbria from elsewhere in the UK to commit crime.

Extra officers are being drafted into many areas, including Whitehaven.
Insp Justin Bibby, from Whitehaven said: "Traditionally at this time of year we get an increase in the number of people who come into the town.
"That's where we come in, to make sure it's kept calm and everyone enjoys themselves."
Supt Steve Turnbull said: "We have every intention to enter into the spirit of the festive season, and enable it to be celebrated.
"We will, if the need arises, also take firm action against those who choose to break the law and spoil the celebrations for others."
The county-wide operation begins on Friday and will continue until 3 January.
