The couple were arrested at their home in Worcestershire |
A man and a woman arrested and released in connection with the death of a baby have spoken about the case. Philip Chadwick, 42, and his 41-year-old wife Anne were arrested at their home in Worcestershire on Wednesday on suspicion of murder, and released on police bail on Thursday after questioning.
The body of the baby, named Lara by police, was found in a garage in the hamlet of Barepot, near Workington, in September 2002.
The body was estimated to have been encased in the concrete block more than 10 years ago.
The couple said they "categorically denied any involvement whatsoever in the matter".
'Co-operated fully'
In a statement released by their solicitors, they said: "We were both arrested in connection with the police enquiry in relation to baby 'Lara'.
"We have both been interviewed on a number of occasions and have co-operated fully with the police in their enquiries.
"We will continue to assist the police to the best of our abilities."
Mr and Mrs Chadwick have been bailed to appear at a future date.
