The garage where Lara's remains were found |
Detectives investigating the death of a baby girl whose body was found encased in concrete have made a new appeal for help from the public. The body of the baby girl - named Lara by police - was found in a garage in Barepot, near Workington, Cumbria, in September last year.
Police believe her remains had been encased in the concrete block for more than ten years.
So far officers trying to identify the child have been given a lot of information about babies in the area at the time.
But Detective Inspector Paul Smith said he wanted to know more about the garage where the block was found.
Forensic analysis
He said: "Anyone who has had any contact with that garage, whether they have deposited anything in that garage or merely passed by and had a look in, I want to know the history of that garage.
"If anyone can help us with any knowledge whatsoever about the garage at the end of Glennfield Place - that is the type of information I am looking for."
The concrete block Lara was discovered in has been analysed, and was probably made by someone with knowledge of the building trade.
Analysis of the concrete also revealed it was most likely to have been made in the Workington area.
About 15 scientists have been helping detectives and the possibility of carrying out DNA tests on people in the area has not been ruled out.
