Five designs for a new bridge in Stratford-upon-Avon go on public show in Warwickshire from Sunday. Residents and visitors are being asked for their views on the competing proposals for a pedestrian and cycle crossing over the River Avon.
Displays of the plans are being hosted at Stratford, Shipston, Wellesbourne and Southam until 27 October.
It is part of the World Class Stratford initiative, aimed at transforming the town's riverfront.
The development agency Advantage West Midlands has pledged �7m for World Class Stratford, of which �2m has been set aside for the new bridge.
New landmark
It would cross the lock linking the river and the Stratford-upon-Avon canal.
As well as providing Stratford with a new landmark, the scheme's promoters believe the new bridge would ease the heavy use of the pedestrian Tramway Bridge and the Clopton Road bridge.
Meetings will be held with business and civic partners and people can register their views online.
A panel of judges will meet in November to make a final decision.
The winning design will be worked up in detail and submitted as a planning application in spring 2007.
