In pictures: Stratford's new bridge

Plan A

Five designs have been shortlisted for a new pedestrian crossing to be built over the river in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Plan B

The bridge will span the river near Holy Trinity Church, where William Shakespeare is buried and whose spire is depicted above.

Plan C

The bridge would also be near the Royal Shakespeare Company's Swan Theatre.

Plan D

People living in the Warwickshire town are to be asked what they think about the designs during the next eight weeks.

Plan E

If everything stays on course, the winning design will be chosen in November and the bridge could be built by autumn 2009.
