Daffodils are to take centre stage in Cornwall this week with a number of events celebrating the spring flower.

Trebah Gardens near Falmouth will be the venue for the annual Daffy Down Dilly celebrations on Sunday.

And the National Trust's Cotehele is hosting Daffodil week, giving visitors the opportunity to see more than 200 different varieties of the flower.

There is a chance to go on guided walks, cut daffodils and bulbs and hear a new audio history about the blooms.

Visitors from all over the country are expected to travel to the estate which wants to show how important the daffodil industry has been to the Tamar Valley.

At Trebah in Mawnan Smith thousands of daffodils and other flowers will provide a backdrop as local school children dance on the lawn to welcome spring in the celebrations.
