The National Trust is to hold a number of food fairs before Christmas to celebrate local food and drink.

Visitors will be able to try and buy a range of produce including chocolate, meats, fish, cheese and wine.

The trust also uses local produce in its restaurants and tea-rooms as well as selling it in its shops.

The first fair will be at Cotehele near Saltash on Sunday, followed by Trelissick near Truro, Killerton near Exeter and Arlington near Barnstaple.

Chris Curtis, property manager for Trelissick, said: "The National Trust holds a number of events each year that act as a showcase for local suppliers.

These events help to promote the buying local message."
