Cars in Boscastle were washed away by the flood waters |
Dozens of people who donated to the North Cornwall Flood Appeal have received letters thanking them for giving to the "Asia" Floods Appeal. The Red Cross says no money actually went astray and that the mistake was simply in the letter itself.
An agency was carrying out the administrative work for the charity.
The charity says it has contacted everyone involved to reassure them that the money they donated has gone to the right place.
Thirty people received a letter mistakenly acknowledging their donation to flood relief in Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
3m water wall
The fund set up for people hit by floods in Cornwall in August passed the 130,000 mark at the end of September.
Millions of pounds damage was caused to towns and villages along the county's north coast after 77mm (3in) of rain fell in two hours on 16 August.
The worst hit place was Boscastle, which was hit by a 3m (10ft) wall of water crashing through it.
Money has come in from across the world to the fund set up by the Red Cross and North Cornwall District Council.
As well as Boscastle, Canworthy Water, Crackington Haven and Bude, were all also hit by the flash floods.
