Health workers in Cornwall are to tour the county's bars and nightclubs to show partygoers there are alternatives to drinking alcohol.

The team has concocted a menu offering more than 20 non-alcoholic cocktails.

Team members have been helped by staff from some of Cornwall's cocktail bars to create the drinks list, which they will be offering at numerous locations over the next nine days.

The roadshow is being sponsored by many of the county's bars and clubs.

Alcohol limits

The team also wants to highlight the dangers of drink-driving.

One in six deaths on the UK's roads is due to alcohol, while one in three people who end up in accident and emergency departments are intoxicated.

Alcohol-related harm costs the NHS 6bn every year and the cost to employers in lost working days due to drink is almost 2bn a year.

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health Authority's Health Promotion Service said: "There are many interesting, tasty, exciting alternatives to alcohol that are easily available.

"These drinks can be used when people know they should not be drinking alcohol or when they have reached their personal limit."
