Uncertainty over skate park
Skate boarder
The council says there is nowhere else suitable for the park
Plans for a skateboard park in a Cornish town could be put on hold because the South West Regional Development Agency (RDA) wants to build business units on the land.

The site at Polkyth in St Austell had been earmarked for the leisure facility, but councillors are being warned they could lose regeneration funding unless the land is developed soon.

Six months ago, members of Restormel Borough Council agreed the land should be considered for a skateboard park.

But the RDA says the regeneration of St Austell would be better served by building an industrial park on the land and providing local jobs.

The council says nowhere else is suitable for the skate park, but that the land cannot be used for both projects.

The RDA has also been warned that if the business units are not built soon, the project will not be able to claim Objective One funding.
