Work on the new bus route could commence in September |
Plans for a 5m bus route scheme are to be put forward in Bristol, with work set to commence in September. The project involves the A420 and A431 roads between Kingswood, Hanham and the city centre.
A Bristol City Council spokesman said the route would make bus travel more efficient and reliable, as well as promoting regeneration on the route.
A Project Information Centre is to be opened at 154 Church Road, Redfield from Monday.
Councillor Dennis Brown said: "Through working in partnership with First Bus we have already successfully delivered Bristol's first Showcase Bus in 2003.
"Despite initial concerns that the Showcase 1 route would impact negatively on the Gloucester Road, it has continued to be a vibrant and successful shopping centre."
Tony Anthistle, managing director of First Bus Operations in the region, added: "I am delighted to see the second Showcase route moving forward and I look forward to continuing our work with the council, further improving sustainable transport links within Bristol."
