Dead woman suffered head wounds
Coniston Road
The flat has been sealed-off but the road remains open
A woman found murdered in a flat on the outskirts of Bristol died as a result of head injuries, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

Police investigating her death say they know who she is and are in contact with her family, but have not named her.

The victim is understood to be a Polish careworker aged in her 20s.

Officers have named Clive Hayes, 54, who lived in the flat where her body was found, as their main suspect. They have warned the public he is dangerous.

We are working closely with the local Polish community and authorities in Poland to identity the victim
Det Supt Arthur Lewis

Mr Hayes, who is also known as Steve, has not been seen for several days, and it is thought he could have travelled to the Humberside area, where he is known to have family.

He is believed to be driving a silver-coloured MG Rover ZT sports car with the registration number PL 04 UZN, and may have his border collie dog with him.

Police were called to Wordsworth House, Coniston Road, Patchway, on Tuesday after residents became concerned.

They found the body of the woman, inside a flat at the complex.

Det Supt Arthur Lewis said: "We are working closely with the local Polish community and authorities in Poland to identify the victim and contact her family. We need to ensure this is done before we can publicly name her."
