Police are hunting for 54-year-old Clive Hayes |
Police investigating the murder of a woman near Bristol have named a man they say is their main suspect. Clive Hayes, 54, is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of a Polish careworker found dead in a flat on the outskirts of the city.
Officers say Mr Hayes, also known as Steve, is potentially dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
It is thought he may have travelled to the Humberside region, where he is known to have family connections.
He is believed to be driving a silver-coloured MG Rover ZT sports car with the registration number PL 04 UZN, and may have his border collie dog with him.
Police were called to Wordsworth House, Coniston Road, Patchway, on Tuesday after residents became concerned.
They found the body of the woman, who is in her 20s, but has not been identified, inside a flat at the complex.
Asst Ch Con Jackie Roberts appealed directly to Mr Hayes to come forward: "It's important that you speak to us. We do need to clear this up.
"Please pick up the phone or contact your nearest police station."
More than 40 officers, together with forensic specialists are working on the case conducting house-to-house inquiries and also continuing examining the crime scene.
A post-mortem examination was being carried out on Wednesday to establish her cause of death.
