 Dispersal orders effect the entire New Deal area of Barton Hill |
New powers will be used to move groups of people in the Barton Hill area of Bristol, if they behave in a persistently anti-social manner. It is the sixth such dispersal order, granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, to be issued in the city.
The powers allow police to move on groups of two or more people, and to take under 16s to their homes if they are unsupervised after 2100 BST.
The groups can be made to disperse by a specified time or immediately.
Councillor Barbara Janke, Chairwoman of the Safer Bristol Partnership said: "Most young people in Barton Hill are good citizens but their lives too are blighted by a small group.
"Once the dispersal order is in place we expect the vast majority of young people to be able to enjoy life in their community without fear of being bullied."
