Airport reopens after snowfall
Bristol Airport
About 3,000 passengers were affected by the closure
Bristol International Airport has reopened after closing due to bad weather.

Ice on the runways meant at least 3,000 passengers have had flights cancelled or delayed.

The airport closed on Wednesday night, but had reopened by midday on Thursday.

Travellers are still advised to contact their airlines - and not the airport - to find out about delays. The backlog is expected to clear by Thursday afternoon.

The fire service helped unfreeze aircraft stands, ramps and the runways.

Elsewhere, police said the hard shoulder of the M5 was like sheet ice and urged drivers to take care if they need to pull over.

Several schools are closed for the day and parents are asked to tune into their BBC local radio station for details.
