Airport closed after snowfall
Snow at Swindon
Motorists have been warned to be careful
Bristol International Airport has been closed since Wednesday evening because of bad weather.

Ice on the runways has meant up to 3,000 passengers have had flights cancelled or delayed.

Travellers are advised to contact their airlines - not the airport.

The duty manager told BBC News Online: "The runways were swept last night after the snow and the situation will be reviewed throughout the day."

The fire service is concentrating on de-freezing aircraft stands, ramps and runways - which are being sprayed every 30 minutes.

Elsewhere, Police said the hard shoulder of the M5 was like sheet ice and urged drivers to take care if they need to pull over.

Several schools are closed for the day and parents are asked to tune into their BBC local radio station for details.
