It is hoped the one-way plan will ease congestion on the IDR |
An official legal challenge has been launched against controversial plans to turn Reading's ring road into a single one-way system. Wokingham Borough Council has begun a statutory challenge to the traffic regulation order made by Reading Borough Council last month.
The order was needed for plans to make the town's Inner Distribution Road (IDR) run anti-clockwise.
Wokingham council claims that change will cause congestion on its roads.
The council is also pressing ahead with an application for a judicial review of the decision to make the order without first holding a public inquiry.
Reading Borough Council has insisted it will defend its decision through the courts.
