Anti drink-drive campaign begins
Police in the Thames Valley are urging people to report anyone they believe is driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Last year, more than 1,200 drivers were breath tested by their patrols during the Christmas period.

They found that one in every eight people, 12.5%, involved in accidents had drunk too much alcohol.

However this was a reduction from the same period in 2003 when 17% of drivers tested positive.

This year's campaign - named "Operation Hangover" - will be launched later.

Supt Mick Doyle said: "We want to reduce the number of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads. We can only achieve this with the help of drivers acting responsibly.

"People who drink and drive put themselves, their loved ones and other road-users at risk.

"If you know someone is drinking and driving, report them to police."
