Teenage yobs caused trouble on the estate |
Residents on a troubled estate who stood up to teenage yobs have won a government-backed bravery award. Locals from the Dee Park estate in Reading, Berkshire, will pick up their Taking a Stand award from Home Office Minister Hazel Blears on Wednesday.
In 2003, a number of residents gave court evidence which saw anti-social behaviour orders served on two teenagers and their families evicted.
The estate enjoyed a drop in crime after the orders were served.
