Private developers are being brought in to revamp the estate |
Residents and councillors are to tour a troubled estate to plan a blitz on litter, graffiti and fly-posting. People living in Dee Park in Reading, Berkshire, will take officials to the spots they most want to be cleaned up.
The walk-about on 29 November comes ahead of a major facelift for the 1960s estate, which could include a new public square and shopping arcade.
The borough council is now considering plans by a number of private developers for the 900 homes.
June Orton, a councillor who will be taking part in the walk-about, said: "Local people appreciate the fact they can take councillors and officers to sites they feel are making their communities look untidy and unattractive."
Earlier this month, the Dee Park Community Regeneration Action Group won a Pride of Reading award for its work to improve the estate.
