Underage drink warning to pupils
Students have been urged not to use alcohol to commiserate or celebrate the release of GCSE results.

Thames Valley Police will be implementing "Operation Hangover" to ensure that everyone has a safe night out in the county.

Ch Supt Paul Tinnion, of Thames Valley Police, said they did not want to "spoil the fun" but they would not tolerate drinking by those under 18.

He said police would be on the lookout across Buckinghamshire.

"My officers don't want to spoil the fun of celebrating passing your exams, but they will not tolerate drinking by those under 18," said Mr Tinnion.

"Underage drinking leads to anti-social behaviour and drunken teenagers are more likely to become victims of crime.

"You are also putting your health at risk and there are strong links between high levels of alcohol consumption and youth offending, teenage pregnancy, truancy, exclusion and illegal drug misuse."
