Sir Bobby earned admiration from around the football world |
A service of thanksgiving for the life of Sir Bobby Robson is to be held at Durham Cathedral next month. The County Durham-born former Newcastle and England boss died on 31 July aged 76 after a long battle with cancer. The service on 21 September will be limited to family, close friends and football personalities. Thousands of tributes were laid at Newcastle United's ground after his death and his former club Ipswich Town are to rename a stand in his honour. A spokesman said attendance at the service was to be by invitation only and further plans and details would be announced early next week.
