Investigations into rogue traders in the South East are the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary. Three trading standards teams - one from Surrey and two from Kent - are followed in the six-part series.
Surrey County Council said it exposed "the underworld of the region's most notorious dodgy rogue traders".
The first episode on Tuesday showed two builders trying to con an 86-year-old Surrey woman out of 2,5000, a spokesman for the authority said.
The BBC series, called The Scam Squad, shows one trading standards inquiry which leads to the crushing of a trader's van found to contain a baseball bat and a kitchen knife.
Another investigation in east Kent to be shown will see trading standards officer Amy Rowley on a mission to catch a counterfeiting offender at Folkestone market.
