Hunt for 2.3m bond prize winners
Premium Bond
Greater Manchester has the highest number of unclaimed prizes
Thousands of Premium Bond holders in the north-west of England are missing out on more than 2.3m in prizes.

An appeal is being made to track down bond holders to reunite them with cash prizes ranging from 25 to 1,000.

There is 920,000 in unclaimed cash in Greater Manchester, more than 500,000 in Merseyside, 475,000 in Lancashire and 325,000 in Cheshire.

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) said many people forget to inform them when they change address.

There is no time limit on collecting prizes and the Blackpool-based savings provider holds the funds until the winner can be tracked down.

The oldest unclaimed prize dates back to 1957.

Sally Swait, Premium Bond manager, said: "With the stress of moving home, it is all too easy to forget to tell everyone your new address.

"For North West's Premium Bond holders, they could literally be walking away from their prizes if they have not kept NS&I updated."

She urged anyone with Premium Bonds to check on their website to find out if they are a winner.
