Wintry conditions close schools
About 100 schools across the East Midlands are closed because of snow showers on Wednesday night.

Most major routes are said to be problem free on Thursday and there are currently no delays to flights at Nottingham East Midlands Airport.

Snow is falling once again in Lincolnshire and is beginning to settle over the Wolds. It is also causing disruption in north Derbyshire.

Weather forecasters are predicting more snow despite a thaw overnight.

In Nottinghamshire, 200 tonnes of salt was laid on the roads.

The county council said 20 gritting lorries have been out after dark and during the early hours.

In Leicestershire, snow was expected to settle overnight on Thursday on high ground.
