Investigation into gritter crash
The A617 is set to be closed at Averham until midday on Thursday after a gritter accident.

Police investigations are continuing into a second day at the scene of a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a gritter lorry.

A medical team from the Queen's Medical Centre was flown in to treat two casualties who were cut free from the wreckage by fire crews.

The driver of the gritter remains in intensive care.

Meanwhile the salting of the roads across Nottinghamshire continues, to try to keep the roads clear for motorists.

Eamon Harrison, a county highways manager, said: "In conditions of snow we have what are known as snow routes, and obviously they are mainly into village roads, so there's extra routes that we do treat when snow is forecast.

"We obviously take advice from the weather centre and will do our best to salt as necessary through the night and into the morning as we have been doing the last few days."
