Fire-hit holiday centre to re-open
Building work at Center Parcs
Work continues at Center Parcs
Center Parcs at Elvedon in Suffolk, damaged by fire last April, is on schedule to reopen in July.

At a press conference on Monday Center Parcs managing director Martin Dalby said all the major structural work on the site has now been completed.

Mr Dalby said the new 45m complex was on schedule to meet its planned re-opening to the public in July.

Fire destroyed much of the plaza building last April - forcing it to close and lay off much of its workforce.

But the company is now looking to recruit 450 more workers in readiness for the re-opening.

The fire is thought to have begun during repair work to the resort's distinctive roof structure.

At its height, a large column of smoke could be seen for miles around.

It took 150 firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control, using water from a nearby lake to extinguish the flames.
