Police want support for guns amnesty
Gloucestershire Police have asked county residents to support the national firearms amnesty running from Monday 31 March.

Six police stations around the county will be accepting both legally and illegally held firearms and ammunition.

Anyone surrendering such items will not be prosecuted, and can hand them over without having to leave their name or address.

Gloucestershire's acting deputy chief constable Martin Baker said: "We firmly support the firearms amnesty, which follows our fake firearms amnesty last November.

"It is aimed at reducing the availability of firearms of every description, which can only make the streets of our county safer, cut crime and possibly lead to lives being saved."

The six stations accepting firearms during the amnesty are:

  • Cheltenham Town Centre on Lansdown Road,
  • Gloucester Central on Longsmith Street
  • Stroud on Parliament Street
  • Cirencester at The Forum
  • Forest South on Lords Hill in Coleford
  • Stow in Stow on the Wold

The amnesty runs until 30 April.
