Thirty arrests in car crime blitz
Car crime
Operation Achieve began in January
Thirty people have been arrested since the start of a three-month campaign to cut car crime in Northamptonshire.

The arrests have been in Kettering and Corby and surroundings towns and villages.

Operation Achieve concentrates on the northern area of the county.

It began at the end of January, aimed at tackling all offences associated with vehicle crime, which rose from 241 in December to 340 in January.

The operation involves a combination of extra foot patrols and targeting known offenders.

Detective Inspector Garry Forsyth said: "Of the 30 people who have been arrested as part of the operation, six have been remanded in custody and a number of other key offenders are currently going through the court system.

"This is an excellent start to the operation and we will be striving to maintain this high standard over the next few months."

Vehicle-crime leaflets, which are available from all local police stations, have been delivered to homes in hotspot areas giving advice on vehicle security.

Anyone with any information about vehicle crime is asked to contact Corby Police on 01536 400400 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
