Criminals and vandals will be targeted by a police operation to curb anti-social behaviour on a troubled Leeds estate.

Extra police officers will be drafted in to the East End Park area of the city which has been blighted by crime and disorder recently.

And the city's Killingbeck Police division are mounting a high-profile, pro-active operation along with Leeds City Council, the Probation Service and Benefits Agency to crackdown on known offenders.

The increased police patrols will be focusing on disorder, vehicle crime and burglary, while vehicles in the area will be checked by officers and street graffiti and rubbish removed.

Detective Inspector John Minary, of Killingbeck Police: "The problems in this area are caused by a small minority of people, but they have a significant impact on other residents."

Residents who want to provide information about anti-social behaviour anonymously can call crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
