Ivan Lewis: "It's entirely inappropriate that he be put to death"

Foreign Office Minister Ivan Lewis has spoken about his talks with the Chinese ambassador about the case of Akmal Shaikh.

The Briton has been convicted of drug smuggling in China, and is expected to be executed on Tuesday.

Ivan Lewis said his meeting was the "final opportunity" to convey the UK government's "strength of feeling" to the Chinese government.
