Royal Mail defends use of temporary workers

The Royal Mail has announced it will be recruiting twice as many temporary staff as usual to help cope with any industrial action - a move which has drawn sharp criticism from the Communication Workers' Union.

Paul Tolhurst, Operations Director of Royal Mail, has defended the decision saying that the workers would be used to deal with the consequences of the strike.
