Balls: 'I did the right thing'

Children's Secretary Ed Balls has denied a claim by the ex-head of children's services at Haringey Council that ministers' handling of the Baby P affair was "breathtakingly reckless".

Baby P, who was on the council's child protection register, died in 2007.

Mr Balls told the BBC that "in the end the director of children's services has to take responsibility."
