A march of armed forces veterans

Former servicemen and women have been taking part in the Veterans Day celebrations. Some 500 people gathered in Glasgow's George Square for Scotland's commemoration.

The Duchess of Cornwall met the families of veterans on Blackpool pier for the celebrations there, and was given two sticks of rock as a souvenir .

During her trip to Blackpool, Camilla met Henry Allingham, 112, the oldest UK veteran of World War I.

Apart from honouring those who have served their country, the celebrations are also a chance for old friends to catch up.

London Mayor Boris Johnson stopped by the gathering in London to wish the veterans well on their day.

There were plenty of medals on show from all the veterans who had distinguished themselves in many of the nation's conflicts.

It was an emotional day for many, as memories of serving under fire came flooding back for those who have served.

These veterans burst into song during the celebrations that took place in London's Trafalgar Square.
