A diary of events for the Stop Stansted Expansion Campaign

Saturday 18 January Fundraising auction of promises in aid of Stop Stansted Expansion. Little Easton Memorial Hall, Little Easton.

Come and bid for some exciting auction lots on offer - and all in aid of an excellent cause. On offer are holiday weeks in Devon and Norfolk cottages, celebration cakes, car cleaning, days out at the zoo, babysitting, signed Jamie Oliver books and even a delivery of manure for the garden.

Wednesday 22 January Stansted Airpot Consultative Committee (STACC). Hilton Hotel, Stansted Airport.

Saturday 1 February, 7.30pm (by invitation only) Champagne reception and auction. Pledgdon Hall, Henham

By-invitation only fundraising event, with around 20 auction lots ranging from a week in a chalet in the French Alps or in a Portuguese holiday villa, to shooting and fishing days and a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce for a day.

Sunday 9 February, 2pm Stop Stansted Expansion Community Conference. Hilton Hotel, Stansted Airport

A half-day afternoon conference to bring the local community up to date on campaign progress, future plans and to provide an opportunity for members and others to contribute views and ideas to the campaign. This event is timed to coincide with the relaunch of the government consultation on airport expansion, following the High Court ruling in November 2002 that its original consultation was irrational and unjust.

Thursday 13 February Visit to Stansted by Liberal Democrat shadow Secretary of State for Transport and shadow Transport minister

The Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Don Foster MP, and Shadow Transport Minister, Tom Brake MP, will visit Stansted to meet local people and see for themselves the likely impact of extra runways at Stansted Airport.

Friday 14 FebruaryVisit to Stansted by Conservative Shadow Secretary of State for Transport.

Tim Collins MP (Con), Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, is due to visit Stansted to hear about expansion plans first hand. He will tour the area during the day and also meet with representatives of Stop Stansted Expansion to gain insight into what is at stake.

Saturday 15 February, 7.30pm An evening of smooth jazz with the Jazz Voyagers in aid of Stop Stansted Expansion. Clavering Village Hall.

Local band The Jazz Voyagers have been booked for an evening of 'smooth jazz', featuring their own special blend of vocals, saxophone, keyboards, trombone, drums and bass. Admission �10.
