I can't express the outrage
I feel about this. Our countries are going to end up being all highways and airports!. What a horrible existance for all of us.
Jane Howson
We need more people like Maggie. Those that think this will just go away without "doing" something positive are living in cloud cuckoo land. Well done Maggie.
Chris Collins
Maggie has put her finger on the button. We live in a wonderful part of the countryside at Bambers Green a couple of miles from Broxted, and our Grade 2 listed thatched cottage is destined to be flattened by runway number 2 if the Government get their wicked way. Why spoil so much beautiful countryside and ancient homes forever? Why blight all those unfortunate enough to live just outside the boundaries of the planned airports? What an awful way to treat ordinary folk.
Adrian V. Pastorello
Definitely an important video. I was born and bred in the rural county of Somerset, and as a child was highly stimulated by the countryside. It comforted me in times of loneliness and stress, and also intensified my happiness. Due to my job in Italy I am constantly using Standsted airport, but I find it extremely difficult to accept the idea of condemning such a vast area of admired countryside for a so called "biggest airport in the world"! I have travelled far and wide and seen too many overestimated projects fail due to sudden changes in world policy or irresponsible human waste. Moreover, we must not forget, the English countryside and its people are admired in all Europe, even from beautiful countries like Italy and France, so let's be an example. Our future lies in our children, wise use of technology and the environment. We must all be proud of people like Maggie Sutton and proud of the wonderful English countryside.

Oh Maggie, what can I say? I too have loved walking in Hatfield Forest along with many of Harlow's people. Even now, the forest is badly disturbed by the noise from the airport operations. Quite what it will be like when there's a Jumbo going almost straight overhead every minute or so doesn't bear thinking about. It will be a treasure lost. And what nonsense for the government to be talking about massive airport development on the one hand and sustainable development on the other. There is no such thing as sustainable aviation. Except perhaps steam driven airships! The oil will run out in our children's lifetime. What sort of a legacy are we leaving them?

This is a brilliant video, straight from the heart. In a few poignant words, Maggie has captured the entire case against this horrendous airport expansion. Everything she says about Broxted is true and more - also inside the church there is the hostage window, which was put up after the release of the Beirut hostages - placed here because John McCarthy had local links. The window images carry a message of hope amid the darkness, just as Maggie does in this video. Well done Maggie, now let's see the BBC follow this up with a proper documentary on these crazy airport plans.
